The Beach Boys began in 1961 in Hawthorne, California, as the brainchild of Brian Wilson, who enlisted two of his brothers into the band, Dennis and Carl. Adding the Wilsons' cousin Mike Love and school friend Al Jardine to the lineup completed the band. An interesting tidbit is that even though Brian Wilson was the prominent songwriter of the group and surf music was the Beach Boys' trademark sound, Brian himself was never a surfer. Dennis Wilson was the sole surfer of the group and it was him that reccommended that Brian write songs about his hobby and the surfing lifestyle.
The Beach Boys released over 10 albums which charted in the top ten and several more top five singles. Their album Pet Sounds, although not the most critically acclaimed, is revered as one of the most incredible and groundbreaking albums of the 60's. Its influence was even felt "across the pond" where bands like the Beatles were challenged in their own music making; Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band was a direct effect of Pet Sounds.
Today, Brian Wilson still tours by himself, while former members of the Beach Boys lead their own revivals of the classic surf band.
In general, a fanlisting is just a place for fans of a certain thing, such as a TV show, a band or in this case, a person, to come together to share their love. For more fanlistings, please visit TheFanlistings.org.
I created this fanlisting for the Beach Boys because they're one of my favorite bands. Their music makes me feel as if summer has come, even if it's the dead of winter. And even though I wasn't around in the 60's, I still feel nostalgic when I hear a Beach Boys song on the radio. Besides all that, Brian Wilson was and always will be one of the greatest musical minds of the twentieth century. Gotta love the Beach Boys!
The name Good Vibrations was chosen because that song was one of their number one hits, as well as just sounding good for a title, haha. As for the layout, I used some random pictures of the Beach Boys that I found online. Links to the brushes used can be found here.
